Room for rent in West Davis condo starting July 4, 2012. Available for summer and Fall lease.
Room is more than 11 by 11 ft. It has a sliding door to the backyard and 6ft long mirrored closet (sliding mirror doors). Rent includes shared spaces of the kitchen, living room, bathroom, and garage. There is plenty of storage in the condo with shelving in the bathroom vanity, cupboards for linens, plus extra in the garage shelving unit. Condo has new appliances (oven and fridge). All windows and sliding doors are doubled paned. Central heat and air, which work great! Shared spaces come furnished (the usual couch, chairs, dining table, flat screen tv, dreamcast ;P, shared community computer and printer) but new additions are always welcome. Room does not come furnished although some furniture (dresser, lamp, etc) may be provided if needed.
Unit has its own washer and dryer!
Monthly rent of $550 includes all utilities (water, sewage, gas, electricity, and internet)! No deposit or last months rent required!
Condo is located in West Davis and includes membership to the Stonegate country club. It offers a wide array of amenities such as a pool, newly paved tennis and basketball courts, pool table, table tennis, and a lake to go canoeing and paddle boating on. It also has a study area and outdoor patio area to host parties or sit around the fire pit. I go to the country club to canoe mostly.
The location is very quiet with other condo units in the near vicinity. There is parking right outside the door and guest parking near and on the street. The neighborhood is a mix of students and families with more student oriented housing (aka where you are more likely to find parties taking place) a couple blocks away (in case you are interested in attending such events). It is not the closest to campus but I get to school in 15 minutes (I bike so sloooow, Im sure you could do better). Bus stop is a short walk away (I prefer this because Im lazy). Small grocery store, pizza place, bakery, and mexican diner close by as well.
As a recent ex-newcomer to Davis I can tell you that this is one of the most affordable room offers considering you get the best of the apartment amenities (club membership) without living in a noisy complex. (People walking across the roof of your apt. will slowly drive you crazy. Searching for quarters in your couch at 3 am for laundry isn’t as fun as it sounds either.) It is a peaceful place, as other places in Davis that rival this price are located very close to the train tracks (another thing that will drive you crazy). The trade off is that it is farther from campus (2 miles to Davis residents is a lot. As a ex Texan this was the distance from my front door to the mailbox) although not as far as other apartments off of Covell. Campus is easily accessed via the Russel bike path, meaning that you will not have to ride with or against car traffic or get stuck at lights on your way to school. If you come to Davis without a car, as many do, never fear…having roommates with cars is the next best thing.
Current residents include a grad student couple. Graduate students and responsible undergraduates preferred. Unfortunately no pets are allowed at the moment. Aspiring gardeners wanted! Backyard is currently undergoing transformation with raised beds for tomatoes, onions, peppers, and cilantro plants. No preference on the type of roommate involvement. Roommate who likes to have communal dinners (aka have home made pizza given to them) are nice but not essential.
