Hi there.
Well, where to start. You’re reading this because you need a place to stay. I’m writing this because I have a spare room to rent. So, I guess this is the first step, right? The initial contact. So are you looking for the most amazing, kick-ass roommate that you’ve ever had the chance to encounter in your life? Well, look no further because here I am.
I am a young professional (early 30s), single white male with a pretty sweet bachelor’s pad that just so happens to have additional space for someone who is as kick-ass and as amazing as I am. Financially, I don’t NEED a roommate, just kinda tired of living alone. And I don’t want a “roommate” that I refer to my friends and family as “the guy that lives in the spare room,” but rather someone who would become a buddy and an extension of my self-made family.
So, here’s a little bit about me: I am respectful, fun loving and have a pretty amazing read on life. I am a graduate of UCF (several times over) as well as Capella University (yeah, I have advanced degree wallpaper). I used to teach public school before moving to work for the department of education with a grant that was housed at UCF. I also taught at UCF. For the past few years, I have left the academia world and now am the Vice President of Education for a non-profit state level trade association (one of the largest in the country) that has about 125,000 members. Great job, great life, just missing a few pieces, but one can’t complain.
During the week, I’m a pretty laid back and chill kinda guy, as I work the Monday to Friday deal. As for the weekends, I tend to enjoy life. I love the Pub (my dad was Irish, and I am first generation Irish American, with dual citizenship), and enjoy taking in a pint or two while listening to good live music. I also am a huge fan of pub games (darts, pool, poker, whatever). I also am somewhat of a beer connoisseur and brew my own, and am working on increasing my modest wine collection. Growing up in Florida has also given me a huge love of the water, so I enjoy the beach, sailing, the usual stuff there.
I often tell people I am an Irishman who was born a southern gentleman, and raised a hopeless beach bum, with the best qualities of all three with none of the negative aspects.
I’m also a great cook and I’ll even cook for you. That’s right! I’ll fry green tomatoes, cover them with marinated crab meat and smother that shit in bearnaise. EVERY NIGHT. Don’t eat meat? That’s freaking FANTASTIC! I’ll make a zucchini and yellow squash carpaccio that will knock your fucking socks off.
I also read a lot. I LOVE books. Vonnegut, Palahniuk, Hawthorne, and it helps me to learn something about life, love, knowledge and the pursuit of something greater than myself. Do you like movies? I fucking love them. We can watch the shit out of some movies together if you like, or go get drinks, or work out, hike, play video games . It’s completely UP TO YOU!
I’m not judgmental at all. I love everyone. I’m a secular humanist. I LOVE PEOPLE. That’s the only requirement to being a secular humanist actually. You have to like other human beings and want to help them for no other reason than they are human regardless of race, religion or sexual preference. WTF?!!!? Pretty fucking cool right?
AS for the place: The lease is up in March. I could renew if you really like it or we can look together for a new place after you move in. It’s a two bedroom two bathroom condo in East Orlando, about 1250 square feet, fully furnished and tastefully decorated (52 inch flat screen in living room, wifi and networked throughout, black leather furniture, dart board, pool table in the garage). Amenities in the place include the usual stuff, plus tennis courts indoor racquetball, and all that jazz. If you move in and would want to move, I’d love to rent a house downtown ish, maybe 55 west, or whatever. I’m pretty open and pretty flexible. I would be looking for something in the realm of $550-$650 all inclusive rent (assuming that utilities don’t skyrocket when you move in, although I doubt they will) for the place I’m at now, if we decide to move elsewhere well then we can figure that out then.
As for you, this would be the ideal person: someone identical to me! Seriously though, have your shit together, be a young professional as well (I’d say like 26/27 to about 35/36 MAX). Prefer someone who is single (I’m enjoying the bachelor lifestyle as I don’t really want to deal with girl/boy drama– I’m not some hook up man whore by any stretch, FYI -). Someone who can be respectful during the week, chill and social and quiet at home but weekends going out and doing stuff. I really would prefer to room with a male over a female (it is a bachelor’s pad after all and I can’t exactly walk around in my boxers living with a lady) but if you are a pretty kick ass girl maybe that can be arranged but we shall see.
So, piqued your interest? Then take a moment to click the little link above to send me an email, and tell me something about yourself (no one liners or simple inquiries). I’m pretty awesome and laid a lot out on the table, and like I said I want to find an awesome clone of me to rent to, so you have to give me something to work with.
Namaste!
